NYE: Silver Dust.

This New Years Eve, feel  a little sparkle and dazzle,a little devious. Pick a color scheme that goes with it too! Here I combined green and silver with shades of brown to really have my eyes sparkling and shining! Comibining it with a softer lip balances it all out perfectly!

Don't forget to do your brows! They are an essential part of your makeup, framing it nicely and giving more definition to your face.

There's also the option of going a little Gaga :P

Halloween: Frozen Fairy

Sometimes its better to be simple :) Fairies are always such fascinating creatures and to do them justice you have no need to go the complicated way (although I have in a previous post) This was a fun simple and flattering look that you can accompany with a DIY costume and some pretty wings (word of advice: don't go for the massive ones, they just get in the way and cause injuries!)

Beauty Basics: How to tweeze your eyebrows to perfection.

Ok so beauty confession: I'm terrible at upkeeping my brows.
I know, it really is one of the most important beauty basics, eyebrows frame your face and groomed brows are the best start to looking great. It really transforms your look when done properly and makes one look more classy and presentable.
So here are a few tips to get a natural looking shape that will complement your face the most!

First, start with proper tools. Tweezers come in all colors and sizes, I personally have three pairs all bought at the pharmacy, although one is designer. It doesn't really make a difference where you bought it as long as it works. The only other tool you would need is a mirror and good lighting. I would recommend a mirror that has "zoom" on it, makes it much easier. Make sure your tweezers are clean and preferably sterilized before using them. A brow brush can also come in handy.

(This is my setup)

Now the trick to getting the right shape is simple.
Using your brow brush or any pencil like object and do the following measurements:
From the side of your nostril straight up, on the inside side of the pencil is where your brow should start.
Again from the side of your nostril on an angle passing through the black part of your iris is the highest point of your arch.
Finally from nostril to the outer corner of your eye will determine where your eyebrow should end.

I personally keep my eyebrows on the thicker side, I find that I look weird with thinner ones. This is totally up to you BUT I really recommend starting with leaving them a bit thicker because over doing it is REALLY easy and then you have to let them grow out to start over again (I've done this, not fun). Also the curvature of your arch is also up to you, following your natural shape is a good place to start, but feel free to experiment with it.

A good tip to follow is to alternate brows as you're going through each step. This way your sure to have both of them even.

This is my eyebrow once I was done tonight. Like I said its better to do a bit at a time and then look at them again the next day to see if that's the way you want them. Mine are also really pale, so I always fill them in anyways considering my hair is brown at the moment.  I'll probably be shaping them a bit more tomorrow, With darker eyebrows its better to be more cautious as well, because overdoing it will show more!

Don't be afraid to DIY beauty routines!

Halloween: Insane Nurse.

So this was completely unintentional. I was just testing out a new foundation brush and lipliner and I may have gotten a litttttle carried away. Just a tad. Final thought on it is that I keep seeing all these sexy generic outfits year after year and am also guilty of owning a few. But really isn't halloween about some originality and a little gore? It's the time of year to go a little insane and experiment with makeup that any other time of year (except for me, I have fun with it all year long!) you wouldnt go near unless you had a costume party of some sort (which seem to happen seldom in Canada, as far as I know anyways!)
So go ahead, gut a little insanely sexy. or just insane, that's ok too.

Halloween: Devilish Demon-ette.

Now this was FUN, but it was a difficult challenge to wash off I must say! Changing your skin color is always a kool experience, really changes your perspective. And hey who wouldn't want to be an awesome demon-satan-like creature for a day :P

Halloween! So many animallllss RAWRRR

I am a self declared animal print lover. I like on my walls, on my floors, on my clothes annnnd on my face! Halloween is such a great time to let that animal within out, and why not do it looking amaaazzinnng! Of course, while were doing that, might as well do it a little unconventionally too.

The Zebra look I did just last night. The leopard look was my Halloween costume of choice last year and the giraffe was just some fun I had last year on a study break. These looks are absolutely translatable to any animal, be it bunny, cat, tigerrr, lion, whatever!

On the plus side, doing an animal costume is fun and easy, as well as low cost! Most (girls) have some piece of clothing that portrays the animal within and this paired with some awesome makeup and maybe some ears and a tail.. VOILA, instant costume! Also helps when you've got a weekend of parties and dont want to wear the same look every night :)

More Halloween looks coming soon!!

Superhero Series: Wonder Woman!

I must admit, I felt pretty bad-ass with this one.  A great look for Halloween too!
Pretty fun to accomplish as well, but you really do need a stable hand for the liquid liner, the eyelash application, the star on the "crown" and the lips. Practice is the onlyyy way that you'll achieve a stable hand!
And hey, if you want me to do it for you, I'm going to be available for halloween looks :)

Till the next time!

Annnnnnnd we're back!

So yes. That was quite a long time to be "away"... Alot of things have happened since my last blog! But no excuses noww. I'll be posting some looks again soon.

I thought I'd get back on the wagon with a few discoveries of mine over the pas month :)

First off: a website that sells exclusively vegan AND fruit pigmented makeup that used NO fillers or additives called https://www.100percentpure.ca/default.asp . I haven't been able to order from them yet, since I'm not in Canada at the moment but it's definitely on my list of things to do once I get back. It's been recommended and being used by the founder of 30bananasaday.com, a forum site that I am a member of.

Next on the list is something that I've been using for quite a while, pure cold pressed organic coconut oil. I've never used anything that works better on dry skin, chapped lips and dry hair. It's a cheap much more useful and healthy alternative to conventional products that are filled with chemicals and toxins. One other thing that I use occasionally is organic cold pressed argan oil that also works wonders on skin and hair, it's also usually much more expensive than coconut oil and is more of a once in a while treatment type of product than a daily use one. And hey, if you don't have access to either of those, avocado and papaya work wonders on skin and hair as well, just a tad bit more messy, but a ton of fun to do!

I've discovered that the less products you use, and the closer that the ones that you do use are to nature the more balanced and happy your skin becomes. The push for all these creams and elixirs containing extract of this and that is ridiculous, why not use the source, pure and nourishing instead of its pale imitation that has been manipulated beyond recognition?

Superheroes: Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na Batgiirrllllll!!!!

Pictures are pretty self explanatory :)

Inspiration taken from Alicia Silverstone's take on Batgirl from the 1997 movie Batman and Robin. Also a shoutout to her for being an amazing animal rights activist and fellow vegan!

Request: Purple Pixie Fairy

I'm really rolling them out this week, inspiration just seems to be pouring in :) There are just times when creativity may be lacking, but it always comes back, usually just needs to be left alone. So here is a look that was requested by my lovely friend Emily. Since her fave color is purple and her request was Pixie Fairy angel, I decided to do a purple pixie fairy inspired look! Here it is!
