Request: Purple Pixie Fairy

I'm really rolling them out this week, inspiration just seems to be pouring in :) There are just times when creativity may be lacking, but it always comes back, usually just needs to be left alone. So here is a look that was requested by my lovely friend Emily. Since her fave color is purple and her request was Pixie Fairy angel, I decided to do a purple pixie fairy inspired look! Here it is!

Requested Look: A little fun with an African Cat: The Lion :)

This look was requested on April 22nd by a very special person whom I'm sure was NOT expecting me to actually go through with it :P Well here it is! This is the picture I used for inspiration:

It's great timing too because the movie African Cats came out here not too long ago and I've been dying to see it! I've alos been to a Lion Sanctuary in Africa and got to pet some baby lions, was an amazing experience that I hope to repeat! (i'll include a picture at the end)

SO this is what I came up with! A TON of contouring and highlighting was involved (and since everything looks lighter on cam and with my lighting situation at the moment it was much darker in real life so that I could get the effect I wanted on camera!)

Hope you enjoy! Next Request will be a "Pixie Fairy Angel" as requested by the Lovely Emily. :)

Let's get BOLD.

Want to know what's the best thing about summer IMHO? There is the great weather. And awesome fresh fruit. Next to those is COLOR. After going through winter, where people tend to keep their clothes and makeup on the dark side, spring/summer runways, such as this years, are filled with colors and vibrancy! This years trend were bright bold colors and natural flawless looks. This one falls in the first category:

So I started off with the usual foundation/concealer/powder routine.

Then EYES: Primer of course, then I used my BH Cosmetics 120 palette and  did a gradient of yellow to orange to red, same to top and bottom lashes. Plus I added some dark brown in the crease to give my eyes more depth and highlight on the inner corner and brow bone.

QUICK TIP: Blending is crucial, in this looks I made sure the colors blended together so that there were no harsh lines. The brown was also blended well to create more of a shadow effect.

Moving on: use a small amount of bronzer on all high points of face (cheeks, nose, temples) and contoured under chin and under cheekbone with a matte brown from a contouring palette.

For the lips I use a orange-red lipstick called Sienna (220) from Revlon Rouge Velours and a little bit of clear gloss in the middle! FINITO!

Anyone who says that a bold lip color should only be used with neutral eye makeup is boring, have fun!

From Daytime Simple to Nightime Smoky Burst of Color

Going from day to night need not be complicated. Since you already have a great base to work with, all you have to do is reapply a little powder if your skin tends to get oily and intensify the eyes.

So I started with a really simply look, usual primer/foundation/concealer/powder, with a little bit of bronzer, a clean winged liquid liner and mascara. Defined my brows with a pencil that just a bit darker than my natural hair color.

QUICK TIP:
When applying liquid liner, start with the middle of your eye, using shorter consistent strokes is easier and gives a better result than trying to do it in one swipe.

Since I was really feeling a smoky eye look, but didn't really want it to be too harsh (Lately I've really been gravitating towards more color, has alot to do with summer around the corner :) ) So I made it popn even more with a bright blue base.
All I did was use a waterproof creme base in bright blue on the whole lis into the crease and on my lower lash line than sealed it with a sky blue shadow on the center of my lid then a metallic blue on the outer part. Next I mixed a true black with a dark royal blue for the crease and blended like crazy.  Then onto highlighting the inner corner and brow bone and blending it slightly into the colors to avoid harsh edges.

I also tend to darken my brows for evening looks, it frames the face better so that the intense shadows don't overwhelm the face.

I also contoured my face more and added a nude lipstick to complete the look!

QUICK TIP:
To get a nice sharp edge to your shadow, get a small piece of tape and apply it to the back of your hand to get rid of some of the sticking power then apply it at an angle to the side of your eye.

Don't be afraid to use colors! They make your makeup unique and vibrant :)
